It is hard to imagine the need or the reality of working for nothing. As ludicrous as it sounds, it may be the way to separate yourself from the rest of the pack. If you have located your ideal company to work for, one that you might stick around with and receive great personal satisfaction from, and you haven’t been able to secure employment, then you might entertain the idea of working for free.
Approach the hiring manager and suggest a project you could handle in your free time. Hiring managers will find it difficult to say no to this kind of initiative. Now you have the opportunity to demonstrate your skills and show them why they are making a big mistake by not hiring you Full-time. It will require commitment and dedication for a few weeks, maybe even a few months, however, if all goes well, in the end you will be the next individual hired.
Not only have you been able to demonstrate your skills, but you have shown that you are willing to work hard for what you believe in. You will have also demonstrated your dedication to the company, your boss, and the work. A managers dream employee if you must.
